My Background

Amber is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Nationally Certified Counselor specializing in helping couples and individuals navigate difficulties related to trauma, communication/conflict resolution, anxiety, depression, intimacy, grief, boundaries, and loss of connection. Amber received her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from DePaul University, and her Bachelor’s degree from Loyola University Chicago, where she majored in Criminal Justice. Having a long-standing passion for advocacy and helping others, Amber spent five years working in the political field before transitioning to working in mental health in 2021.

Amber highly prioritizes establishing a collaborative relationship with her clients of diverse backgrounds to ensure that they feel safe, valued, and understood in session to comfortably explore their lived experiences and begin the healing process. Meeting clients where they are at, Amber utilizes a variety of techniques to help her clients strengthen their ability to healthily regulate their emotions, cope with distressing symptoms, and establish healthier and stronger relationships both with themselves and the people in their lives while infusing psychoeducation on how their individual past and present translates into difficulties in various areas of their lives. By learning these techniques in session and identifying these distressing patterns, Amber works side-by-side with her clients to determine a healing path they feel motivated to embark on that will aid them in living fuller authentic lives. To strengthen trust and safety in her work with clients, Amber shows up as authentically warm, compassionate, and curious to discover the client’s story, utilizing humor and gentle confrontation as needed to facilitate the best personal path for healing while prioritizing the client as the co-author of this journey. Primarily working from a person-centered therapeutic approach, she often utilizes techniques from Emotionally Focused Therapy, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy, The Gottman Method, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy just to name a few.

Overall, Amber hopes to provide her clients with a safe, affirming, non-judgmental space where they can unpack their inner experiences, sort through the complexities of what it means to be human and find a path forward that allows them to feel empowered and more at peace. In her spare time, Amber enjoys spending time with her two cats, consuming all things pop-culture/Taylor Swift related, and reading books.
