Frequently Asked Questions About Anxiety Therapy
I tried anxiety therapy in the past and it didn’t help. How will working with you be different?
First, we will ask you about your previous experience so that we don’t repeat any mistakes in our work together. With that being said, anxiety typically doesn’t dispel overnight. It’s something you have to continue to work on and it may come up at random. What we offer is the opportunity to learn why your anxiety continues to come up. Then we offer techniques specifically designed to help you lessen and manage your anxiety, both in the short and long-term. Furthermore, sessions with us are highly personable and interactive. And, we have a great deal of experience helping people successfully manage anxiety.
I’m so anxious that I don’t feel able to talk to you or anyone else.
Although coming in may be a challenging step for you, we encourage you to try anxiety therapy. We are interactive therapists. Meaning, we can use techniques meant to promote relaxation and comfort without the direct exchange of words. And, if you experience difficulty articulating emotions via talk therapy, there are many different tools we can draw from. These tools will help you feel comfortable enough to continue the work.
How long does anxiety counseling take?
Each person experiences anxiety differently and has varying therapy needs and goals. Therefore, it is difficult to approximate how long anxiety treatment will last. That said, most people start to see a decrease in symptoms after just three or four sessions. During which, they will begin to feel substantially better within four to six weeks. The more committed you are to the therapy process, the more you can expect a swift recovery.
