My Background

My name is Anna Zeller, and I earned a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from DePaul University. I began my counseling journey working as a group facilitator with young adults experiencing psychosis. I later served as a co-creator of a narrative program to promote individual and group exploration of experiences with mental illness. My practice is grounded in the belief that there is beauty and power in everyone’s story and that by exploring one’s inner narrative, one can better understand how perceptions and beliefs shape one’s world and their place within it.

I believe that therapy is a collaborative relationship where both the client and the clinician develop a deeper understanding of tools to promote client growth. It is my goal to help clients reauthor traumatic and isolating experiences and to help them appreciate their inner strength. I believe it takes courage to recognize that one needs help or just someone to listen. I value working with adults who are navigating clinical concerns related to women’s issues, trauma, depression, anxiety, life transitions, as well those recovering from a mental illness diagnosis. I specialize in helping clients work towards a healthy relationship with themselves by incorporating a person-centered approach to help facilitate growth, exploration, and recognition of one’s power and strengths. I use tools from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients appreciate and advocate for their needs.

As a therapist, I work to support my clients in developing a deeper appreciation for themselves, while also building tools to help reauthor negative thoughts, beliefs, and actions. I am passionate about incorporating careful listening, curiosity, and creativity into each session, while providing a warm and non-judgmental space. I support a collaborative relationship with clients and enjoy learning and growing alongside them.

As an aside, I love coffee, fiction, and watching people decorate cakes on YouTube. I am also a creative and sometimes disastrous cook who probably should follow a recipe.
