My Background

Hi! My name is Deeya, and I graduated from Northwestern University with my Master’s in Marriage & Family Therapy. I believe that who we are cannot be separated from the relationships, families, communities, and experiences that have shaped us. The way we relate to ourselves and others can influence how we experience the world, and I’m passionate about helping clients better understand those patterns while creating space for meaningful change.

I see therapy as a collaborative process and, above all, a human-to-human experience. I want therapy to be a space where you can show up as yourself without feeling like you have to have the perfect words or know exactly what you need before we begin. You are the expert in your own life, and my role is to work alongside you to understand where you are, where you want to go, and what might be getting in the way. My training in Integrative Systemic Therapy (IST) allows me to take a flexible and individualized approach to therapy, tailoring our work to your goals, needs, and the pace that feels right for you. I draw from approaches including Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and attachment-based perspectives. Rather than following a one-size-fits-all model, I use these approaches to meet you where you are and find what is most helpful for you.

I work with individuals, couples, and families across the lifespan, and I have a particular passion for working with couples and exploring relationship dynamics. Relationships can be some of the most meaningful parts of our lives, but they can also bring conflict, uncertainty, and hurt. I enjoy helping couples slow down and make sense of the patterns they find themselves caught in, while creating space for greater understanding, connection, and communication. I am especially interested in working with couples navigating infidelity, intimacy and sexual concerns, communication difficulties, divorce and separation, and major life transitions. I also enjoy working with individuals who are navigating life changes, relationship challenges, self-discovery, or simply trying to become the best version of themselves.

I believe therapy does not always have to feel so clinical. I value creating a calm and comfortable environment where therapy can feel as natural as possible. I welcome humor into the room and believe that laughter and meaningful work can coexist. I aim to support and challenge my clients with compassion and curiosity while creating a space where they feel seen, heard, and empowered throughout the process. Whatever brings you to therapy, my hope is that we can work together to better understand your story, recognize the strengths you already carry, and create meaningful changes that feel authentic to you.

Outside of the therapy room, I love watching shows and movies, trying new restaurants, and traveling. I’m always excited to find a new restaurant to try, discover a new place to explore, or get completely invested in a good show. I believe that some of the best parts of life come from connection, new experiences, and making time for the things that bring us joy.
