My Background
My path to the mental health field began with an early recognition of the importance of feeling heard and understood, as well as noticing the pain that can come from feeling alone in our experiences. Many of us know what it feels like to share something deeply personal and leave feeling misunderstood or unseen. I believe the therapeutic space can be a place of safety, connection, and understanding for those seeking to feel heard and seen. My goal is to meet each client with genuine curiosity, compassion, and care for the challenges they are carrying, creating a space free of judgment where they can feel comfortable showing up as they are. We all experience difficulties in life. And everyone’s experience is unique. I hope that beginning therapy can be a meaningful step toward the relief, healing, and growth you are seeking.
Originally from Texas, I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology from Dallas Baptist University and my master’s degree in professional counseling from Amberton University. Throughout my education and professional experience, I have had the opportunity to work alongside individuals navigating a variety of mental health concerns, including mood disorders, substance use, eating disorders, trauma, and challenges related to neurodiversity. Most recently, I provided counseling in a jail setting, working with justice-involved individuals. This impactful experience deepened my appreciation for the resilience of the human spirit and each person’s capacity for growth and change. I believe everyone has strengths that can be nurtured and developed, and I enjoy helping clients recognize and build upon their existing abilities.
My therapeutic approach is collaborative and grounded in person-centered and strengths-based philosophies. I work alongside clients to establish goals that address their concerns, reflect their values, and honor their hopes for the future. Because each person brings a distinct set of experiences, needs, and strengths to therapy, I tailor sessions and interventions to the individual through a trauma-informed, holistic lens. I draw from evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT). I have experience working with adolescents and adults across the lifespan, including individuals from diverse racial and cultural backgrounds and members of the LGBTQ+ community. Whether you are navigating a difficult season, experiencing mental health concerns or disordered eating, beginning to process unresolved trauma, or seeking lasting personal growth, I would be honored to walk alongside you in that process.
When I am not in session, you will often find me exploring the city with family and close friends! We enjoy spending time outdoors, discovering new coffee shops and restaurants, and traveling to new places to experience different languages and cultures. I also love enjoying beauty and art, whether in a museum, at a concert featuring one of my favorite artists, or through a great book. These are the moments that help me recharge and find inspiration!
