My Background
I have always been interested in other people’s stories and how our experiences and relationships shape our lives. My own relationships, losses and growth have certainly shaped my own life and these experiences have led me to want to help others find their path as well. I earned my Master’s Degree in Counseling at National Louis University and have previous experience in private practice, managed care, social service agencies and as a hospice bereavement counseling fellow. I am currently working towards my certification in Perinatal Mental Health.
I specialize in working with individuals and couples who are experiencing depression, anxiety, perfectionism, grief and loss, relationship concerns and life transitions. I am also passionate about working with the perinatal and postpartum population, including clients who have experienced infertility and pregnancy loss. I use a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). My approach is relational and authentic – I believe therapy should be collaborative and I strive to provide clients with a safe space to share their stories.
We all need a non-judgmental space to be our true, vulnerable selves. My goal is for clients to feel truly heard and acknowledged in services. When we feel validated in therapy, we can begin to validate ourselves and this can be instrumental in helping us to make lasting change.
In my spare time, I love spending time with family, reading and taking walks in my neighborhood. A little sunshine lifts my mood almost instantly.
