My Background
I’m Marta Gullickson, a Licensed Social Worker with a Master’s degree in Social Work from Boston University and a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Marquette University. My path to becoming a therapist was shaped by my own mental health journey as a young adult. Navigating life transitions and emotional challenges early on helped me understand the healing power of therapy—and led me to want to support others through their own seasons of change. Working in private practice settings has strengthened my ability to meet clients where they are and build on their unique strengths, something I prioritize in the therapy room.
As a therapist, I am passionate about working with clients who are struggling with life transitions, emotional overwhelm, notice rigidity in their thought patterns, and are struggling in their relationships. I join my clients in making sense of their past experiences and emotional shifts to better understand present patterns and prompt deeper self-reflection. My approach is relational, client-centered, and trauma-informed, drawing from Parts Work and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). I also integrate elements of CBT, RODBT, and ACT when helpful, as these frameworks offer practical tools that can compliment deeper, insight-oriented work.
Building a strong therapeutic relationship is at the core of my practice. I strive to create a warm, nonjudgmental, and collaborative space where you can explore your thoughts and emotions at your own pace. In session, you can expect a thoughtful balance of curiosity, emotional depth, and challenge (often paired with a bit of humor!) as we explore and work toward your therapeutic goals.
When I’m not in the therapy room, you can find me spending time with my nephews, walking the 606 trail, or making my way through an ever-growing list of shows and movies. I deeply value balance, joy, and self-care in my own life—and I’m committed to helping my clients cultivate the same in theirs.
